2 years in 3 pics.....

Oh Lyla. What can I say? You are just too much, too cute and melt my heart at least 592 times a day (I've tried counting).

This year we overcame many obstacles, you reached so many milestones....and when I think I can't possibly love you anymore and my heart can't take it....I do. I just love you more and more and more. You are my best friend. I would rather be with you than anybody else. You. Lyla. are amazing and becoming a wonderful and loving little girl. I just can't say enough about you. You'll understand one day.

What are you up to?
This year you started daycare, started walking, jumping, climbing, talking and playing. You pretend. Sometimes you think you are Lightening McQueen. Yesterday you got your first skinned up knee, and of course, there was blood. You cried. I told you the blood was red like your crayon and paint, ...you must have lightening mcqueen in you. cachow. and that was that. You laughed and let me clean it all up and put (an excessive amount) of bandaids on your boo boos.

You sleep. Boy do you ever sleep. (knock on wood) You go to bed between 8 and 8;30 and you sleep until 7:00-8:00. I have to wake you up for school most days during the week. and? I love THIS! You are getting tubes put in on the 20th of this month. I'm scared you'll stop sleeping so gloriously...but it's a chance I'm willing to take. That fluid just can't feel good in there. Your naps? yeah.totally spoiled. You take 2-3 hour naps. and? I LOVE this about you. I love you awake and happy and cheerful the most...but that happy Lyla doesn't come out with no nap or little sleep. It's so obvious that even family doesn't question our schedule or routine anymore, you just like sleep and are much more pleasant with a nice amount of it.

Eating. It's hit or miss. Most of the time it's a hit though. You like to eat what daddy and I eat 80% of the time. You'll try anything once or twice. If you don't like it...I get it handed to me. Pretty impressive. You also put your dirty plate and silverware in the sink for me.

New funny words/phrases:
"mama gorgeous"
blaming daddy for everything: "awww man daddy"; pretty much everything that comes out of your mouth cracks us up.

Favorite Food:

icecream.

you pronounce it "icream" I see your thinking on this though. ipad. iphone. I get it. I really do. at least we know what you want!

Favorite Drink:

Milk. still. so boring.

Favorite Snack:

car car snack. which are just fruit snacks in Disney Cars packaging. When we don't want you to have the fruit snacks we put whatever we think is better into the package and you eat it. Yes. you are obsessed with Cars.

Behavior:

Temper tantrums still happen but not as often and definately not as bad. Could I have experienced terrible twos at one? possibly. Most of the temper tantrums I can fix with food, nap or a drink or diaper change. Some...not so much so you get a time out. Others need a few minutes for you to cool down in your room, alone, which Nonna hates that I do, but it works. Your really really really bad ones? I just ignore you and tell myself someday these will stop and I'll miss them.

Favorite Toy:

anything and everything Cars. Trains are a close runner up, but a Cars toy can usually cure all. and books, of course. and coloring.

Favorite Word:

"No"

Can't wait to see what this next year has in store for us.

The day after....

It was 97 this day, it felt like 110. You made me walk aroudn the entire neighborhood with you and tow mater! We were sweating like we had just went swimming, but you were so happy! I couldn't help but follow along like a little lost puppy.

Cupcakes...by me, which I didnt' know I had to clarify until everyone kept asking me who did my cupcakes...ummm..me?

Favor bags filled with an elmo oreo, pack of crayons, a notepad, bubbles and a slinky.

Birthday girl, enjoyed her party more than I thought a 2 year old could.

We had a great day filled with friends, family, food and tons of Cars gifts.

The party ended early than expected due to pap pap taking a spill, but overall a great day! You really enjoyed yourself. You were so excited when you woke up from your nap to see all the elmo decorations that you actually did your staple foot stomp of excitement.

Wasn't this just yesterday?

Cause I am pretty sure it was....

J and I spent last night, on the deck, with some wine...and eachother. We talked about our baby Lyla. I love my toddler Lyla so much...but we miss our baby Lyla too.

I'm far from perfect....I have flaws. Tons of them actually. But WHY on EARTH does Lyla call this thing mommy?????

She takes it in the tub with her and talks to it...like it's me? "c'mon mommy...bubbles"

I thought it was a phase, but it's been a few weeks now and she really thinks this thing looks like me.

Is it the hair? (going to get a new hair do tonight). or maybe it's the clothes? should I buy myself a new wardrobe? or ::gasp:: maybe it's the "size" of it....perhaps I should contact weight watchers....

Oh my little lima bean lyla....so creative and so smart. It MUST be the glasses :)

Wine and Music Festival 2012

Party #2 and #3

yes. That's right. Lyla is celebrating her birthday at 3 different parties.

The Elmo party is the birthday party at our house for friends and family who won't be with us on her ACTUAL birthday at...the beach :) eeeeek! Going to Fun land and riding rides for the first time for her 2nd birthday.

So.

Party #1 Elmo party at our house
Party #2 Daycare party
Party #3 is beach party.

Party 2 and 3 will be Cars themed. Because, well? Lyla just LOVES Cars. she is borderline obsessed, I believe I talked about this before when we were "forced" to purchase the black car bed .. you know .. so everything matched in her room :) I also covered up the little tike logo with corvette stickers that I "pimped up" just a bit.

This may or may not be a sign that I have a HUGE problem. My name is Amanda, I am mother to Lyla and addicted to color coordinating, EVERYTHING.

Gosh that felt good to type out.

So. This weekend we bought the little party bag favors for her daycare birthday party for all her little friends. and I got toothpick car things to stick in donuts to take to schoolw ith her that day. I figure the teachers will just love and adore me becuase I'm not sending in cupcakes. I know how much of a mess one little 2 year old can make with one cupcake....the thought of 10 toddlers eating 10 cupcakes each is enough to send me to the hills runing and having nightmares for, probably, the rest of my life.

So. Favors, cars donuts...what else could there be? THIS little piece of flipping heaven that is the most awesome thing ... ever. Having a girl who is obsessed with the Disney Cars movie is tough. There isn't a lot of "girly" stuff. No pj's, no shirts, no hair pieces....definatley no dresses...right?  WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG....WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!
