Wordless Wednesdays
The party dress fits perfect and goes perfectly with my ideas. Words can't describe how excited I am.
Not too much to say
about last night.
Except that I am so unbelievably grateful for everything I have in my life. From the glasses I put on my face this morning, to the happy baby I left, to my precious, supportive husband and the roof we have over our heads. My list goes on and on. Today everything I look at I seem to look at in a whole new light.
I will pray for these families that I met last night and I will say extra special prayers with Lyla for the 18 month old baby girl that was oh so adorable.

Y3W: I NEED HELP
So. I have been working on Lyla's first birthday invites and I am getting mixed reviews. Of course I am my own worst critic, so what do you think? (If you don't want to comment you can e-mail me your opinion) and if you could care less, well then just ignore this section completely.
Here is the other problem. I ordered her dress and it is on the way and I really want to take a picture of her in that and replace the grass photo (her 10 month photo) with an 11 month photo in her dress. BUT. I need to get the invites out stat because we have out of towners we need to invite.
SIGH
Decisions Decisions Decisions
Thank you anybody who would like to help me out with this decision!
So...the dress is ordered. The invitations are being worked on and the paper pom poms have been ordered.
Just look how cute!!!!!
The poms were ordered in a variety of colors and sizes. The dress. Well I had that dress picked out since September of last year, and I got an e-mail yesterday saying that it shipped.
The birthday planning has begun. So much to do, so little time and so many decisions to make!
I can not wait!
Happy Hoppin'

Reverse
And .....
She crawls.
Backwards…..and not up on all fours...but she moves.
last night she got stuck under the bed. I was putting clothes away and had her on the floor…she started fussing, I looked down and all I saw was her head coming out from under the bed. I am not very used to her moving yet so you can imagine my shock…surprise…and the roar of laughter that followed.
She got 2 more teeth last night. That is 6, 6 teeth. That is basically like being close to driving...right? Think I am crazy? go ahead, but that was my thought process last night.
She started talking, I saw 2 new white spots, I threw her head back and jammed my finger in there. YEP. 2 more teeth and that's when I cried. Apparently 4 teeth is fine, 6 teeth is too many for me.
She was only fussy for about 24 hours with these, thank God!!!! And today we have our happy baby girl back.
She doesn’t really like me to rock her to sleep anymore or give her her bottle. She likes to lay in her crib and hold her own bottle…so I sit, on the rocking chair, all by myself and watch her…and sometimes I cry about that too.
She is 10 months and 2 weeks old. I ordered her first birthday party dress and some decorations. I have two options for the invite and can't decide which to use, and my cousin certainly isn't helping me at all with that. It's just all happening so fast. I feel like I was just pregnant 2 months ago.
A much needed weekend away.
With all the nanny drama, lack of childcare, "The Fight", J working 6 days a week and usually a double or two during the week and Aunt Clavia passing, things have been a bit tense around our house, to say the least.
So J planned a gorgeous weekend away for us to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. Nonni and Pap kept boog and off we went.
It was our first weekend away, but I felt/thought I would be a better mommy if I could go be ME for a day or two.
And my oh my. It was the best idea my husband has EVER had. There are no words to explain the absolutely amazing time we had.
So here it is. In pictures.
We started out in the "Love Shack"...no seriously....look!
And this was our view. I really didn't notice the power lines until I saw this picture.
Our chill spot, where we enjoyed coffee, pancakes and booze of course.
Watkins Glenn, Gorge Trail.
Made me and my problems seem so small.
The views from the wineries were breath taking.
ALL LOCAL. The meat, veggies, everything was local and you could tell by the taste. These were chicken quesadillas.
Pulled pork.
This was the Cafe. I highly recommend.
And we were feeling NO pain by the end of our day!
Late....10 months old
You turned 10 months last Saturday, it was Mothers Day, our lap top at home wasn't working right for pics and things were just crazy. BUT - finally we are back up and running.
So with no further delays. Happy be-lated 10 Month Birthday Baby!!!!
Here you are in all your big girl glory.
So with no further delays. Happy be-lated 10 Month Birthday Baby!!!!
Here you are in all your big girl glory.
You sure are getting quite the little personality on you too! And we LOVE it! {minus the temper tantrums, but really? what did we expect when me and daddy combined our tempers :)}
You are completely off baby food. You do still enjoy a bowl of baby cereal every once in a while...a rare while because you try to feed yourself and cause a huge mess. Your favorite food is GRILL CHEESE. You can even eat a whole one!
You still take 3 bottles a day that range from 5-8 oz each.
Your favorite veggie right now is peas and carrots {separate or together} and broccoli. You will eat any and all fruit, Friday I gave you kiwi for the first time and you inhaled it!
Still not crawling, but sooo very very close. Last night you were kind of doing it but not quite yet and since the doctor isn't worried, neither are we.
You are an Ahhhhmazing sleeper. You take 2 naps a day. One in the morning from about 9-11 and another in the afternoon from about 2-4. You now {thankfully} go to bed around 7:00 or 7:30 and for some unknown reason are ready to rip and tear at about 5:30. You are killin' me girl. KILLIN' ME! Mama has to hang with you all morning AND THEN go to work, please...just sleep until 6 or 7 and I promise I will STOP complaining.
You go like a mad woman on Black Friday in your walker. All.Over.The.Place. You think you are hysterical when you run full force into our door! SIGH. It apparently only gives me a heart attack when you do this.
The weather is getting really nice so you are enjoying every minute outside on a swing, in Noni and Pap's wagon or on a walk in your stroller.
Mama has been slacking and really needs to get on the first birthday party planning. I have only been dreaming about it since the day I found out I was having a girl....now I just need to get it all together.
You are an amazing baby. We love you more and more everyday, even though each day we think we can't love you anymore. You say mama and dada. There are words you know, but don't say yet...like Brutus {your bff} binky, bottle...you try to repeat things that we say, but you mostly can just get the "tone" we are using. Like umbrella...you say ummmmbaaaaaaa. LOL. Oh and your two most favorite things that are guaranteed to make you smile are your Indian calls and me grabbing those big fat thighs and squeezing them until you throw your head back and giggle like a mad woman.
God, I miss you every.single.day that I have to be away from you. Everyone said it gets easier, well it doesn't. Not since the day I came back to work. I love you so much! No matter what mood you are in, how cranky or fussy or "teething" you are. I just love you so much!
But then again, who couldn't love a face like this!
Thankful Thursday
Thursday? Really? Are you sure? I haven't written in one whole week! YIKES! Well that is because:
We had the viewing, funeral and a few odds and ends last week.
Saturday Lyla turned 10 - yes 10 - months old. {pics to come}
My very first, very special Mother Day {ahhmazing}
And Monday, well Monday was our 2 year anniversary, and we had to fire our nanny. Our "new" nanny fell asleep on the job so we had to fire her immediately, leaving no child care for the week. I shuffled and figured something out for Tuesday morning and then had my dad coming in the afternoon, had my mom coming at lunch and had grandma coming Thursday and Friday to help. Well...
IN SWOOPS GRANDMA
and surprises us by arriving Tuesday afternoon and informing us she is able to help out until Friday.
{insert angels strumming on harps here}
And now I can breathe.
So today, on this thankful Thursday I would like to do a huge shout out to Grandma D!!!!! Hi Five, chest bump, booty bumps into 5 back handsprings.
THANK YOU.
Now onto setting up plans for childcare next week! AFTER our little anniversary vacation up to the Finger Lakes of course :)
And more thankful thursday shout outs - are lists permitted????
My mom - for helping out whenever possible and being my BFF now, always and forever.
My dad - for trying his best not to let Lyla's attitude get to him.
My fill in Nanny who is absolutely ahhhmazing and if I could squeeze her give her big wet doggy kisses without her looking at me funny, I totally would.
My godmother - for helping out on Saturday and just basically being our angel here on earth.
My hubby for being just about the best and most supportive person I know. Seriously, we are talking totally and complete overwhelming support right now, when I never needed him more.
And thank you box of wine. I really do love you lots.
Picture post to come when I have time to sit down and upload them! SIGH!
Love you baby girl Lyla! Kisses.

May she rest in peace
Haven't written in a little while because my heart has been busy.
My dear great Aunt Clavia has passed away. I have been thinking about this post for days now; a way to sum her up in words; a way to summarize the impact she had on my life; the way she helped form my morals, my beliefs and who I am, at last, I have come up with no words. There are simply no words anywhere that I can find to say how special she was. To explain her. So I will just list what I loved...what I will miss and what I will treasure in my heart forever and hopefully one day share with Lyla:
She was the cooker of the best damn fried cauliflower you ever did taste.
She was the matriarch to a family of at least 150 people.
She was the one who called everybody up to start the line to the food, becasuse, well she was THAT loud.
She let us run in our barefeet up and down the cement sidewalk barefoot until our toes bled from scuffing them so much.
She let us swim in one of those plastic pools that had water sitting in it {and god knows what else} for weeks. And she filled that same pool with a rubber black hose that we drank out of on a hot summer day.
Our hands would get black from going round and round and round on her clothes line poles.
We slept on the floor, she slept on the couch beside us eating her Sour Cream and Onion UTZ chips and watching The Golden Girls. {ah ha, so that is where my love of that show came from}
We had no bed time. We sat on her wooden swing {real wood they gave our butts splinters} on so many summer nights just looking up at the stars. That was it. Just looking up. No cell phone, no lap top, no facebook.
We climed that wall on her front porch even though the chances were so great we would fall off and break our heads open on the cement.
I learned what "DO NOT SOLICIT" meant from the black and shiny gold sticker on her front door because that was "sharp"
I ate raw gnoccis until my belly ached. And sometimes home made raw pasta too! I want to say she let me do this, but she didn't, if I got caught by her she would yell and complain that I had spoiled my dinner.
She was the polka queen.
She was my imaginary friend Annie's voice {which of course I didn't find out until much later in life}
She was my own little cheering section always saying "yah Amanda" and boy did she think I struck gold when I introduced her to Jonathan. She would always say "If I was about 10 years younger, I would give you a run for your money Amanda"
She was the teller of old stories. In the good ol' days.
She was a pain in the ass and would leave me voicemails yelling at me that I hadn't called her in x amount of time.
She was the woman who called you 15 different names before she got to the right one.
She was that old lady that hit a cop and than drove away and called the police station to report the "unprofessional police officer" only to find she had a warrant out for that same hti and run.
She was the parker of a crooked car.
The maker of the gorgeous bride dolls and shower umbrella and wedding wishing well.
She was "The Don"
She was so many things. She was so many memories. So many different memories for each individual that will mourn her. She leaves behind so many loved ones but is going to be with so many more.
Friday was probably the biggest Italian party God has ever seen!

May she rest in peace. And may I never forget one single thing about her so that I can share it all with Lyla and let her stories {and strength} live on forever.
