Y3W: Updated Life List

64. Go to a pro baseball game
Saturday 7/16/11 J and I went to see the Indains vs. Orioles at Camden Yards. It was awesome! We "tailgated" at Mr Pickles and the Bull Pen. Then headed to the game. The Orioles (J is Indians fan) won but it was a great game to watch and I realized that my love of baseball has returned, but only in real life, I can NOT watch it on TV.
I do side jobs for a company called DS Wood bats. They make wooden bats for major league baseball, furing this game a player was batting with one of their bats and? HIT A HOMERUN!!!! Which I thought was totally cool, seeing as how the logo I designed was on that bat! Yes. I'm bragging...so what?! I mean what are the chances.

89. Take a family vacation - planned for August 2011
Planned. Executed. And for the last two days have wrote about it. I think we have all had enough of that.

84. Sleep soundly again
13 months 2 weeks and 3 days after giving birth to Lyla I can honestly sit here and say write I have reached the light at the end of that very long, very dark tunnel. I sleep soundly. I don't run down the hall to check on her anymore.  She sleeps until about 7 a.m. every morning and then some mornings even until 8-8:30. I wanted to type this so that one day, if we have another baby, I will remember that it DOES get better!

21. Start my own family tradition
This. This has been started years ago and when typing this on my life list I didn't even realize it. I guess that is the way most traditions form though, without anybody even realizing it.

For about 5 years now J and I have ordered ourselves some sort of apparel from Buckeyecorner about a week or two(if we are super prepared) before the first game day. We look through the magazine. We look on the internet site. Last year Lyla received a ton of buckeye gear, but sadly the infant section isn't exactly huge! This year? We get to buy her something fun! Like this!
and this

and of course the only binkis she will take are the buckeye binkis, so we may have to stock up on those.

And for mama? I'm torn.

I really only need one, since I have quite the collection going from all these years.

Football is a HUGE deal in our house. On top of this "tradition" we have of ordering shirts for our family (yes, including the dog) my husband has tons of others that go with this.
On game day he usually wakes up, throws open the curtain and says (in a manly strong voice) "today...is a GLORIOUS day" then proceeds to march down the steps to his manhole garage, open the garage door and hang his OSU flag (I swear if he didn't do this on game day the neighbors would be very concerned). We make a breakfast (usually he refers to this as kegs n eggs) and after his belly is full and his keg tapped he puts in the OSU Marching Band's CD and marches all around our house and many moons ago, our apartment. Brutus follows him in stride and this year, most likely, he will have a full train following him, Lyla, Brutus and mama may even join in on the fun this year. Then. After all of that. We watch the game. Stuff ourselves with chips and salsa, pulled pork (his speciality) and brownies. And lets just be honest - BEER - lots and lots oh beer. (Coors Light as tradition has it).

So THIS is our family tradition. It's small, nothing extravagent. But it means the world to me (and I'm sure the J as well) becasue it is ours. So with football season upon us (yes. next weekend.) we will order our shirts, I will start checking on sale prices for pork butts and I will drag out all my buckeye serving platters to enjoy the nice family tradition that my wonderful husband has created for our little family.

GO BUCKS!

Wordless Wednesday...

Because I have decided that words can't describe what a wonderful week we had.

2 days we had breakfast on the beach. I got my excercise and breakfast, all in one shot!

and who wouldn't want to snap a pic of this, while munching on blueberries and eating the world's best cheese danishes from Lingo's.

"just" a sunset. That I can't seem to get out of my mind.

I can't stop staring at this picture but I don't know why. It is my favorite one though.

Dada and Lyla splish splashing in the bay.

Our little spot on the beach.

Hiiiiiiii mama!

My mama. Lyla. And my mamas mini me. ME! Wierd picture, huh?

Just some light reading on the boat.

Weeds vs. Us

That's right. We arrived safely back home yesterday afternoon, to an over grown yard.

Weeds vs. Us starts tonight.

They are attempting a take over and we aren't having it. Not into our pretty yard! no way. no how. I am goign out armed with my husband, weed killer spray stuff, gloves and my teeny tiny shears (thanks father in law - yes they still work) and I am offing them. All of them, without one ounce of guilt.

My body is back but my brain is still mushy! Hopefully it will return to normal within the week.

Stay tuned tomorrow to see our little beach baby....and her handsome daddy and drop dead gorgeous mother. AHEM. yes. that would be MEEEEE!

Until then.....

Yes. Now do you understand why my brain isn't back yet?

Y3W: Already on vacation....

That's right. I'm sitting here at work physically. But mentally, I'm on the beach, or in our boat or drinking a glass of wine on the deck. I'm eating fresh caught crabs. I am sitting with my husband...
yeah, that doesn't EVER happen.

For those of you who read and don't know this already, J has started working 6 days a week 12 hour shifts each and every single day. 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. His new job doesn't allow him access to his cell phone. He watches the baby from 8 a.m. to noon then the nanny comes over. So I have from 8 a.m. to noon to text him anything I need to know. It's been a rough week to say the least. And last night ? I cried thinking of him having to eat his dinner alone in a dirty mill. But these are the things he does for our family. And it won't last forever....right? RIGHT?????

So mentally I am sitting here at work thinking about our vacation together. It is going to be oh so much fun. We are going to have a blast. And hopefully my little beach baby is still a big fan of the beach and the boat...because that is pretty much all we are doing for 9 solid days.

Eat. Drink. And be merry ... all together!

Lyla has become quite the little miss personality. {no clue where she got any of it from} She cruises on the furniture, or the door, or whatever she can scale up on and move on. She loves to use daddy as a jungle gym. She talks. ALOT. For awhile there I could have sworn I could hear actual words, but not so much anymore. Whatever she is saying is very important, mostly serious and sometimes down right cracks her up!

Her favorite spot in the house: (I haven't had time to get my camera out in forever, so iphone pics will have to do)

Operation "Contain a Baby": Completed & Successful

Only thing is.....we fixed this dangerous problem and now she is obsessed with picking the paint off the sides of the door...just as dangerous, no?

She is into everything. If I open the fridge she'll get in there and point to what she wants, be it a sippy cup, a stick of cheese or some fruit. It's pretty amazing, I must admit.

She is stillllll fighting with those molars. She has good days and bad. mostly good though.

The eating is slowing down. She has 1 or 2 good meals a day. So we just give her snacks a little more often.

I am happy and proud to say that we have been bottle free since Sunday July 31st. The binky? well that's a different story and we have no plans of taking that from her anytime soon. She loves that thing!

Hopefully I'll get my camera out often on vacation and get some updated pics of my bubba girl!

And...yes....in all my spare time I AM working on a little online store where I will maybe (that's a big maybe) be able to design cards for people!!! how cool would that be? I need an escape somehow? right? Just starting to work on a logo.

Have a great week/weekend everybody!

Y3W: Thank You Card

Lyla's Thank You's. Going in the mail Saturday.

Goal set. Business neeeeeds to be up and running by end of Summer. September 30th. Can I do it?

I have everything set up and ready. I just need to do it. I need motivation. I need some kind of creative outlet with all the change going on and my job feels like it is sucking the creativity through my pores every day I walk through those doors and back into the grey cubicle.

Tonight. I am challenging my hubby to a cornhole tournament in the drive way after Lyla goes to sleep. Tomorrow pictures at 11 with Lyla's cousin and a graduation party. Sunday Church (possibly Lyla's first children's sermon)  Croatian cookout at noon!

Next weekend....Family vacation starts for an entire week! Hello Beach. Hello sand. Hello boat and hello smiles. Thank you baby Jesus!

Happy Weekend everyone.

Nanny wins....

until January at least.
The hunt can relax. Spread out. More research can be done.

Seeee...wearing my positive pants did get us somewhere! thank you God!

We (Lyla's nanny and Lyla and myself) went to tour the first day care. You know...option #1. Well we weren't even in there for 10 minutes and we were walking out. We didn't finish the tour. I thanked the lady politley for her time and we went on our merry way.

We went out to lunch instead! mmmm...BK!

While at lunch, the nanny says she wants to stay with our family for the same price that we would pay for daycare.

ummm? what?

Yeah!

We get to keep our nanny! Until she starts her clinicals in January. And my life will continue to run smoothly and she will continue to be wonderfula nd perfect in everyway and Lyla will have someone there with her 2nd best to me or dada!

God is good. God is very very good!
and tonight I will celebrate with wine! mmmmm

Daycare vs. Nanny - "The Face Off Begins"

Well. We have started our daycare search. This week we found out that J's job will no longer work with having a nanny. So the search is on...
I am not happy about this for many reasons. However, after 2 glasses of wine and some very wise words from 2 very amazing women I have decided that no amount of tears, stress or sorrow is going to change a darn thing. So here we are. Starting our daycare hunt.

We are going to miss our nanny. I don't even want to think of how it will be without her. She has really just become part of our little family. HOW WILL I SURVIVE without her is what I really feel like screaming. She does so much to help me out. She makes my life so much easier and she does it because she wants to, I never ever ask. So now that I got that out there...we will move on to daycare discussion.

No more negative thoughts will be thought, so no negative things will be posted.

Today at noon we go to tour our very first daycare - Option #1 - U- Gro at HACC. I heard wonderful things about this daycare from a friend of mine that I used to work with. We are only going to places that were recommended by people who know.

As nervous as I am about daycare, for a lot of reasons, I am really focusing on how cooool it will be when I pick her up and she makes her first art project (hopefully she got my artsy fartsiness), when I pick her up and she comes running towards me with arms open wide and so happy to see me and tell me all about her day. The morning I drop her off and she leaps out of my arms and runs after her new "bff". Or on a Friday picking her up from daycare and stopping for a pizza or at McD's funland. She may even want to play with me when we get home, right now she is bored of all her toys by the time I get home and all she wants me to do is hold her, and all I want to do is play! Those are the moments I am so excited for. And those are the moments that I am focusing on.

Today at 4:45 we go to option #2 - Little Learners. This was a recommendation from my cousin Heather who takes her 2 kids there and has for some time. She says she is very pleased with it, so we are going to check it out.

Tomorrow at 3:30 we are going to visit the option #3 - Jewish Community Center-Early Learning Center. I have heard wonderful things from MANY people about this option. From what I read on their web page it seems like it will be an amazing school to take Lyla to.

Is it terrible that I have already started back pack shopping for her? No? HA. I didn't think so.

So, our life is about to change yet again. It will be stressful on our little family but it will be the most difficult for my husband. I have no doubt in my mind though, that we will get through it. That this is what God has chosen for us {thanks Delia} and that nothing can hold us back! My fingers are crossed, prayers are being said - that we make the best choice possible for our little baby girl!

NOW.

The Messes of Little Miss Lyla
all in one hour this morning

The dog's bag from the bottom of the pantry.

Had to get some peaches out this morning (and 1.5 million other things)

What is it with kids and Tupperware?

yes. Those are what you think they are. They kept her content for awhile...what?? I see nothing wrong with it.

So precious.

Wish us luck!

I'm hoping to write something about each one and read back over this in a few days and decide which we liked best!

Step by Step.....

Nope! I'm done talking about the concert, I'm talking about our baby!!!!!

Look Who's Walking....

**about 15 minutes later she stood and walked across the room like it was nothing. And then ... ? ... the rest of the night she showed off for dada and went in the loop around our house. It was absoultelly amazing.

There is much much more I want to write about. But ... well ... later? maybe?

The concert in iphone pics

Game face!

OMG! It's JOEY!!!!!!!!!

Seeee....it really was a cooool concert to go to. I swear.
