Milk update and more
Well. Let's see here. This week you are at 2 oz formula and 4 oz whole milk. And you are doing just fine with that. You still have your three bottles, one before each nap and one before bed. All is well in the world of weaning from formula to milk, but....there is always a but....
Milk in a sippy cup, it ain't happening sista. We have given you water in a sippy since you were 5 months old. Nice, ice-cold, refreshing water. I put milk in there and after you throw your head back and take a huge gulp you look at me with a look of pure disgust, hatred and complete irritation. Kind of like "Who do you think you are and where in the hell is my water, I'm thirsty" but we will keep trying. Honestly, I have absoultely no desire in the world to get you off the bottle. I love that time that I am guarenteed with you every.single.night. I wasn't able to breastfeed so that is my bonding time and I'm just not ready.
As I said yesterday you are crawling. Even more today than yesterday. And what does this mean for you? Awesomeness. What does this mean for me? UNawesomeness. Now, not only do I have Brutus under my feet all the time but you are right there with him now. I"m cooking, your laying your head on my feet. I'm in the shower..you are poking your head through the curtain. I'm laying on the floor, you are up on top of me crawling all over me...or giving me some love (my personal favorite) that you do so well.
It takes my breath away every time you cuddle up to me. Nuzzle in my neck. Lay your precious little head on my chest and your tiny little hand holding on to my shirt. I feel like I can't breath I love you so much. And I am positive you feel the same about me. You choose me over anybody, anytime, anywhere, no matter what. The reason I'm typing this? Well because I am eating it up right now, I'm no idiot, I know it's just a phase and tomorrow, next week, next month you could be a daddy's girl so I just want to cherish this "phase" and brag about it as much as possible. That's right. You are a mama's girl and I wouldn't have it any other way.
And just because I think every post needs a picture...

A mom, her baby and some zebras....
Could it get any better than that? I think NOT!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ergo, more than anybody else in the entire world. I do not know what I would do without you ... I am head over heels in love with you. Without the Ergo I would have a broken back and never get anything done. My baby likes to be held. She loves to cuddle up and snuggle, which I love just as much, but sometimes I have no choice, I have to get things done. So I "ergo" her as J and I call it and bam....happy baby, happy mama, and I can do just about anything!
The stroller sat a little too low and the ride was a little too bumpy. You had a much better view from the Ergo and seemed to really enjoy it much more once I had you in there.
We saw all sorts of animals and dada took pictures of you and me...since that rarely happens {I am usually behind the camera}
It was a big weekend, actually a HUGE weekend for you. We went to Lake Tobias, then a pool party/family reunion...breakfast out at the diner Saturday and Sunday and over to Nonnie and Pap's house on Sunday after church to play with Peyton and well...just play in general.
You are crawling. No...I know I said that before...but you are REALLY crawling now. Up on all four and crawling. SIGH. You are still such a happy and content baby though. You only crawl if I take your favorite toy or you see your blankie or something you want...which is rare. You love to just sit at your toy bins and look at your books and play with your toys. You are so happy. And precious I might add.
So enough about me bragging about you...let's look at some pics of your big weekend. {many many firsts for you...and so close to your first birthday too}
What a weekend. I wish it was summer all.year.long. You are getting to be at such a fun age. I love doing things with you and letting you see and explore new things. I hope the rest of the summer is as fun as the last few weeks have been.
Back to party planning this week. Have so much to get done and so little time.
I love you Lyla. With all my heart!

Y3W: Pieces coming together
Be cool eat at Rita's {and more}
Last night ... first italian ice.
As much as I am in denial over the whole...ahem.....ummmm.....::clears throat repeatedly:: first birthday approaching quickly, I have to admit, we are having a blast with you. Last night icecream....swimming in your little pool, parks, swings, slides all sorts of fun. This weekend we'll go to your first pool party and we are thinking of heading to Lake Tobias or maybe even the Baltimore Aquarium...you'll go crazy over either.
And of course, me and grandma D are busy busy busy getting all artsy craftsy for the party.
Nonnie came over last night and handled you while dada and and I finished up weeding, mulching and touching up the yard for the big partay day!
Things are moving right along. Today at lunch, I head to Zimmermans to pick out all the candy for your candy buffet.

Weaning
and so it has begun my sweet baby girl.
Last night we introduced whole cows milk to you in the form of a sippy first {so not a fan} and then 2 oz in your 6 oz bottle {much much better}.
Your birthday is in a couple weeks and they recommend you be on cows milk and off formula...which means soon we won't have our happy bonding bottles that you love so much.
I'm in denial. HUGE denial.
BUT....on a happier note:
I just bought all your party supplies. O.K. so not even close to ALL of them, but quite a few. I got tableclothes, cups, plasticware, napkins and ice tubs. So exciting.
Up next....Zimmerman's candy shop.

Titleless
I can not for the life of me think of a title for this post because my brain is totally consumed with....PaRtY pLaNnIng and weekend plans.
Sunday was Fathers Day. J's first Fathers Day I might add. We were at the beach and he got to go fishing, crabbing, drive the boat and play with his baby girl in the water! Sounds like a good day to me!
It always makes me a little sad when we have to come home. We are now home for three weeks and next time we go down it will be for the whole entire week! wahoooooo!
For the next 2 weeks though, I will be eating, breathing and sleeping First Birthday Party details and planning. I am so excited. Lots to do and lots to prepare but it will be wonderful.
Every single lunch break this week is filled with errands to run for the party.
Saturday we have a family pool party to go to and we will see how much Lyla likes a big people pool. We have her swim suit, floaty and sunscreen all ready! yes - I am totally ignorning the fact it is only Monday and skipping right on to my weekend plans. Sunday was supposed to be a baby shower for some friends, but she decided to have the baby yesterday...so now we will meet the baby and give her presents! Yah. Another fun filled weekend for Lyla with lots of parties.

Splish Splashing away with dada
My dadio and his hair. With my mom and friend Diane.
Snack time on the boat...while STANDING!
It was a long rough day boating.

Teeth. I hate them.
All of this hard work. All of the pain, torture and agony.....to just have them fall out in a few years. It is ridiculous if you ask me. Of course nobody is asking me, so I should just shut up. But my heart just bleeds for her. Poor little thing. Top two, cutting at the same time means many things for me. First it means no sleep, o.k. o.k. I'm cool with that...God did invent coffee for a reason. God created many things and I think almost all relate back to having a child that is teething.....for instance: an earlier bed time, an alarm clock, monitors, INFANT motrin {best one God...thanks so much} ice packs, bottles, the soft chewy spout on the sippy and most importantly...WINE for mama. When I do finally get you down, I go enjoy a nice glass of wine on the deck and then promptly to bed because, well, you get up 5.2 billion times a night.
Last night I cried. I cried right along with you. Nobody will ever ever ever understand pain, the real full on pain until you can't fix the pain that your child is baring. I carried her for 39 weeks, we made her together, we gave her life {well with alot of help from God...but you know what I mean} and there is nothing I can do. Not a single thing I can do for this poor little girl. Just look at her. Makes you want to cry too, doesn't it?
This is what we see for a few days while a tooth - or in this unfortunate case - teeth are pushing through your gums.
8. There are now 8 teeth in your mouth sweetums.
I assume some parents handle it better than me. I consider myself a fairly strong person. Fairly independent. But oh Lyla....I just melt for you when you are going through this.
So here is to hoping I get my beach bum back any day now! Come on teeth get through there already!

YES! That is a bottle of beer in the cupholder. Don't judge me.
Lyla's nothing but a beach bum......
I realized Sunday that my life is now almost complete. My baby girl loves the beach as much as mama does! And we loved every.single.second of it.
And here she is, our little beach bum.
She was in the water. She did play on a raft. But I am one of the clumsiest people I know so I don't, o.k. I try not to take my camera within 6 feet of water. SIGH. Hopefully she gets J's gracefulness.
And here are some graduation announcements and invitations to the party that I worked on last week!
Someone paaaahhhhlllleeeeeeeaaaaaseeee give me the winning lottery numbers so I can quit my job and design cards all.day.long. Please? I promise. I will remember you when I win.

This is pretty cool mama.

What is this stuff?
On the boat. ::points:: look at Brutus' butt.
SEEEEE???? Told ya my life couldn't get any better!
Captain Lyla and Pap.
Heading home. I have never seen her look so exhausted.
