2011 Recap

January:

Our month was filled with a lot of snow and many delays and some snow days off.
You turned 6 months old and started sleeping through the night. (I had high hopes that this was the end of sleepless nights, but it wasn't. Oh lord it was not). You also got a tooth! I learned that spending $50 on baby food was way more fun than spending $50 on anything else!

February:

First Valentines Day.You started sitting up longer. You started walking in your walker. Dada was your first word. Mommy and Daddy started skiing again.

March:
Happy St. Patty's Day.

You started waking at 5 a.m. and trying to kill me. I started getting run down and tired and complaining about "how much I do" as a mama. You can just hear the frusturation in this post. And I was either lying or had a good day with you in this post . I think this is when you started forming part of your own personality. Looking back on it I remember thinking it was really tough, but as I know now, it gets harder...it's always something and just when you think it can't get any tougher, it does. But we survive and we make it through it. We always do.
I got my DSLR camera.

We fired nanny #1 everything explained here.

And I went way overboard for your first ear infection.

How to handle an infant ear infection

April:

Our nephew came to visit.

My Mr. turned 33! You again tried to kill me and dada but not sleeping and crying every second of every day - or you got your third tooth :). A water main broke in the city giving mama 3 free days off work! Demo started on the master bathroom - that is still not done.
You went to your first birthday party for cousin Braydon!
You had your 9 month wellness check up:
Length: 30" 97% {hello Michelle Jordan}
Weight: 22.5 90% {please don't let those rolls of yours fade, I love them}
Head: 18.25 94% {big girl headbands for you}

May:
A very special lady found her way to peace in heaven.

We fired nanny #2. We celebrated our 2 year anniversary with a long weekend, baby free up at the Finger Lakes. Grandparents saved our necks a few times this month.

Lyla turned 10 months and mama was loving learning everythign about her camera.

First Birthday party planning and buying began. And mama worked on adapting to motherhood and marking off things on a life list.

June:
Beach trips started, we traveled without dada a lot. More teething. You started crawling. And in between teething there were giggles, talking and laughing. Weening began, off formula and bottle.
Tons of crafting for your big party!

and more party planning.

Pool parties. Zoo Trips and basically just enjoying the fun June weather.

July:
My baby girl turned one!

We had our first family vacation to the beach for an entire week. I went to NKOTB concert!  More laughing and laughing and giggles

August:

You started walking with push toys. Lyla makes tons of messes all over the house. We start looking for daycares because Jonathan's shift changes and we don't think we'll be able to afford a nanny full time. Nanny #3 offers to stay for salary until January.
We take our 2nd family vacation for a week.

We keep with tradition and start our shopping for Buckeye outfits for the family!
A baby starts looking like a toddler.

September:
We wrap up the beach season. A hurricane sweeps through Harrisburg followed by the "Great Flood of 2011". Having fun at places like the whitaker center, where toddlers belong :) Coley turns 30! Tons of outside time! Nanny #3 decides to put her 2 week notice in and we give up the nanny war and send Lyla to daycare. Mama does some side work.

October:
First day of daycare. We decorated for fall. We questioned why we didn't start daycare sooner, you adjusted awesomely to it.

Fall family festivities.

We adjusted to life with daycare. We built a tent for your room. We went on the PA wine trail (sans Lyla) for Stacey's 30th. And we went trick or treating.

November:
Mama worked on her Christmas list.
Lyla got her first hair cut.

We redid the laundry area. We went to Punkin' Chunkin' sans Lyla. We discovered my husband/dada suprises easily - or just doesn't pay attention when I talk. Mama learned the joys of daycare and taking a day off and still sending you to daycare! Mama became a little less dependent on Lyla. Mama became a mouse murderer.
Saw Breaking Dawn

and dealt with a teething baby again. Got family pictures done - doing this during molars coming in was NOT a good idea.

December:
You finally started walking....

I turned 30. I have been busy with the holidays and barely blogged at all! A walking and talking toddler consumes every minute of my free time anymore!

Hoping 2012 unrolls less teething, more cuddling....and more Lyla and family time!

Happy New Year!

The Christmas Season...

Always sends me into a big ball of panic, excitement, nerves, stress and chaos. But this year seems worse than most.

I can't stop buying everything little things for Lyla. Like everywhere I go!!!!!

Just a little glimpse of the last two days.

I just set up a baby sitter for tomorrow night for my one cousin's house warming party. All arrangements were made and settled. Come to find out the party isn't until NEXT Thursday.

Yesterday I text AND e-mailed my godmother "singing" Happy Birthday to her **HI REA** her reply "My birthday isn't until Thursday"

About 10 minutes before doing that I signed a card for my "big" boss because he lost his grandmother two days ago....I signed the card "Get Well Soon - Amanda"  Do you have any idea how mortifying it is when your big boss comes back to your desk and you then say to his face "I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother" and he says "yes. Thanks....do you know you signed my card Get Well Soon"

just a little side note. I almost died last week. No. Seriously. Nastiest stomach bug EVER!!!!!

Holy sweet mother of the man above...I need a drink, some coffee and some R&R.

Updates, pictures and all sorts of fun stuff will resume after the holidays.

until then.....

name blurred to all hell so the paparazzi can't google me and find me and get us.

I am 30 today...

and in honor of this and of being Lyla's Mama we will do a 30 year old stat post: like this and this, but for me.

So today I will do my own well check up.

Weight: 164 but I look about 200-225.

Gender: from young lady to a middle aged woman now.
Name: Amanda

Feeling: Tired. Always tired. Is it the old age? or the fact that my daughter is up at 4:00-4:30 every morning and when I say up? I mean UP for the entire day!

Health: Good! I have a bit of psoriasis. a touch of a cold (birthday gift from Lyla). Slightly over weight and my mind is only focused on my 6 oz sirloin meal from Outback tonight and of course, that glass of wine to go with it!

Movement: slower. Much slower than when I was in my 20's (just yesterday)

Belly: Just saggy now. No longer firm like a rock, think more on the lines of jello.

Next Appointment: Well, I have to call an make an official appointment to have my cap put on my tooth that my filling fell out of. I have the regular old she doctor visit next week. Those are all my appointments at the age of 30, I don't know about you, but I think that is pretty damn good.

This weekend is a big Ugly Sweater Birthday Party at my house, thrown by me, the birthday girl! (pretty arrogant huh? but fun!)

Length: 5'8"
Weight: 164 (may 160 on a really good day)
Head: hmm... this is awkward...I'm going to pretend this isn't here, because I'm not about to measure my head.

I am loving being a mommy to a very funny, energetic and curious little Lyla. My husband is wonderful and we have some how, some way figured this whole parenting thing out - more than 50% of the time. Not sure how we did that one. My family is great. My mom, as always, is my best friend in the entire world. Love her. She is also quickly becoming Lyla's bff too. Which I love.

I think this new age will be a good thing for me. I'm leaving my 20's behind (the first part of them were ROUGH) and I'm going to embrace my 30's of being an adult, responsible, a different kind of fun and different (in my opinion better) things to focus on.

Hello 30! I love you already! Even with the jello belly.

OH by gosh by golly

The holidays are amongst us.

We traveled to Ohio and back for thanksgiving. We set up the Christmas tree. I threw away all the old, nasty, tacky Christmas decorations away (sorry mom. they were clashing) and have a goal to make all of my own this year. I like to set my goals high. I'll be happy if I get one thing done. Thank you pinterest. As always, you get my creative juices flowing.

On the list:

Frame a sign made my be. (printed, just needs framed)
spray paint wine bottles
spray paint pinecones
sparkle spray branches
spray candle holders.

This girl ::points two thumbs to self:: needs to get her a$$ to Michael's and get to work.

Saturday is my big 3 0 party. Probably won't have it all done by then though.

and now some pictures of our latest adventures.

and We feast....

Lots of colring.

Sweet sweet cousin Will. Seriously. The sweetest littel man ever.

Buckeye baby.

And of course we have some Christmas prep at home!

Seriously. These Target shatter proof balls really ARE shatter proof. Kid tested and mother approved.

The cutest most ticklish thighs you ever did see.

Peek a boo

We have a walker

Finally.
A week before you turn 17 months; you walk.

I picked you up Monday at daycare and you stood up and walked to me. We were all in shock. When we got home, you went right back to crawling. Grrrr.

Tuesday morning you woke up. and BAM! You wanted down and you walked. That morning you walked all over the house. Dada and I were amazed. shocked. stunned. ecstatic. and doubtful. We thought it was a fluke and you would go back to crawling.

That just isn't the case. You still crawl, but only occasionaly. You are getting better and faster at walking and sometimes it seems as though you are running. I can get a gooood video of you but this one is proof that you have walked!

and this is very exciting for a ton of reasons. However, the best reason? Because now I cna dress you in skirts and dresses again! wahoooo.

This morning:

God. I seriously can NOT stand your cuteness.
