Lyla fought the table....

and the table won!

and I do believe she shattered her dada's heart into a million little pieces when it happened. I have never in my life seen that man move so fast.

All is well and the rest of the night was spent putting on her "sad face" and saying "boo boo eye" and pointing to her eye/ear region on her face. She does know eye and ear...but I think it must have just hurt all over.

We were sitting there. Just eating some dinner, she was done early (as usual) and was walking around doing her thing she does. I still have no clue how it happened but she just ran right into the corner of the table. yes. right freaking beside me. mother of the year. No joke. J, who was across the table, was there right beside her before I was even up out of my chair.

Boo Boo bunny didn't work, she wasn't having it.

This morning? within 37 minutes of being out of bed she managed to break a glass votive holder, attempt to eat a battery and then a bolt and took a face plant right on the dining room floor.

This mama? needs wine. TONIGHT.

This has become just a typical thing in my house. seriously.

heaven help me.

Signed.

A Photo Challenge

I read blogs. a lot. Alot more than I like to admit. I love them. I have learned a ton from them. I am addicted to them.
There.
I said it.

One of my favorite blog is the Paper Mama. Well her photo challenge this month is "fave photo" and so I thought, what the hell.

And here is my favorite shot of January!

Wordless(ish) Wednesday

That pink jacket...

Well last year Aunt Clavia bought Lyla and her cousin Peyton those jackets. We all thought she had realllly fallen off the rocker at that point. I mean seriously...who buys these tiny little girls these big huge jackets (in my defense she also bought her a pair of size 6 GIRLS sweatpants)?

Turns out....she was just smarter than all of us.

Thanks Aunt Clavia.

Yes. This totally makes me smile.

Weekend Recap

Friday
I picked up Big L from daycare. After a short car ride home and the in laws being there when we got there, I questioned whether I had picked up the right baby. I mean, this girl? took her jacket off, no problem. Put her jacket on no problems. She was laughing, smiling and talking....she was amazing! Basically going "hey gma and gpa look at me. Aren't I just absolutely perfect? don't believe a word that crazy mother of mine says, none of it is true."

J got off work early so we headed out to to the wharf for dinner. Fish n' chips. Yes please. My crazy 5 year old nephew ordered (and I quote) from the waitress: "I"ll take the fish n' chips ... cause you know what I like gurrrrl"

I polished off 2 big glasses of wine ::licks lips:: and we all headed home.

Lovely evening.

just a little style on a Friday.

Saturday
IT SNOWED!!!!!! Like the perfect amount of snow and the perfect texture. I have better pics on my camera, hopefully coming tomorrow, but yeah. At first Lyla didn't really know what to do and after quite a performance I managed to get her all bundled up. ok ok maybe a little too bundled up - she could barely move. A car would drive by and she would try to wave, but her poor little arms were just stuck out to the sides, you could only see her little hand flapping for a wave. Once she "warmed up" to this new feeling and stuff around her off she went. Walking all around and having some fun. Her and her cousin went sledding & of course she had to go on her swing, yes in the snow, what?

All this fun was followed up with some napping, playing, shopping and then eating again. La Fiesta! mmm mmmm good.

I wish I could take him shopping with me all the time. He pushes the stroller while I browse the sales. Good deal...no?

Sunday
Breakfast. Playtime. Nap time. Playtime and a big ol' family dinner! And now we are back to Monday and I'm starting to daydream about next weekend already!

*yes both of those bottles of wine got drank and 2 more were opened. Don't judge.

Why does my iphone take craptastic photos for some and some pretty clear ones for the other? so confused.

Y3W: Just one word, 3 times. Busy Busy Busy.

I guess that is what life with a toddler is meant to be like. Or being the totally awesome social person I am anyway......

Last Friday I skipped work, took the babes to daycare and headed to the spa with my mama dearest. It? Was wonderfully glorious and we had a blast. Then she ditched me and I had lunch with....MYSELF. and a glass of wine and my most favorite food...ever...crazy bread! Delicious. I picked up the baby girl and the nice freshly groomed doggie and headed home, to find my HUSBAND home from work early! Yah! Which meant, I had in home sitter for the night! After a little 1 on 1 time with the toddler I primped and headed out.

I picked up my friend and we went to see her husband play at a local winery. 2 of my most favorite things. Live acoustic music and wine. Lovely evening.

The next day we cleaned and hung out with the baby. Family Fun time is what we like to call it. Then we dropped the baby off at Nona's house and we headed out for the night. It was a friend's 30th birthday about an hour away. It was a good time, but too far from home so we headed closer. And what else would me and my husband do when we have a sitter for the night than head to our favorite bar? duh. Where this mama here? thought she was 21 again and drank and partied like it. The next morning? Lord almighty! I won't be doing that again for a ... well hopefully for a lifetime.

We met Nona for breakfast and picked up the baby. Spent the rest of the day trying to play with her and trying to pretend like her saint of a mother did NOT drink too much the night before. We had .. hmmm...how can I say it? Hungover family fun time!  Honestly, it wasn't that bad. Me and J played with her like always and she knew nothing of the night before!

Monday I had the day off so I spent it catching up on things I hadn't gotten done over the weekend because I was partying it up! and you guessed it! More playing with the baby girl!

Back to work Tuesday.

Lyla decided sleeping through the night Tuesday night was for losers, so she didn't. and she was up early. and she was miserable. But those days come and go and we carry on as best we can.

I just keep chanting to myself "Positive thinking. Positive thinking"

We have more teeth coming through (I swear they never end...EVER) so she chewed through all her binkies. J being the paranoid awesome father he is ordered her new ones because, well, the others weren't safety first certified. So he we threw all the old away. Lyla knew the new ones weren't right. She spent most of the night Wednesday throwing them on the floor and screaming NO NO NO! My hopes were high that that would just be the end of the binky....forever. Not so much. She broke down and took a new one to bed with her!

Last night she was zonked out by 7:30 and slept until about 6:50 this morning.

We were having some issues with drop off at daycare. After a talk with the assistant director, a bit of rearranging and 2 days she is back to tear free drop offs. Today? I told her "mama has to go to work now, like dada" she leaned over. gave me a kiss. said bye bye and followed me to the gate, helped me close the gate and stood at the gate waving bye bye to me. insert melting heart here. That's my big girl.

Good days. Bad days. They are my days. My days of being a mother. My days of melting hearts and screaming out of lack of patience. Toddlers are HARD. Toddlers are really really hard. Newborn phase, to me, was just easier. She cried? I had a few options....change her, feed her, rock her. Toddler? I have no clue what the hell I am doing 99.5% of the time. I think she knows this. I feel like I'm starring in the DaVinci code every day of my life trying to figure out what the hell she is saying or wanting or doing....where she learned it from? is it normal? and so on and so on and so on. And then....then there is just that one thing that she will do that makes it all worth it. The kisses. The hugs right in the middle of her playing...she just runs over and hugs me and goes back to what she is doing. The times she only wants mama. me and only me. It is those times that I think to myself - I am doing it. I am raising a child. And I'm doing it right. Then she throws something at me while kicking me in the shin and screaming NO at the top of her lungs. I snap out of that thought and come back down to earth. But still. it's worth it....at least to me.

Some things Miss L is doing:

talking. talking a ton.

New funny words:
Brutus sounds like bullshit.
BoBo is binky.
gubble buppies is Bubble Guppies her favorite TV show and perhaps the theme to her beach birthday party this year.

Nona cause I think my mom spent all of Saturday night and Sunday morning brain washing her, she may or may not have had her voice repeating nona playing on a cd player next to Lyla all.night.long. I kid. I kid. Kind of...it wouldn't surprise me.

Banana - ok...it sounds more like nanna

and I would say about 50% of whatever I say she says. It's pretty cool, most of the time, unless someone cuts me off while driving...eeeks.

Animal noises:
monkey
duck
birdy
owl (she is obsessed with owls)
Brutus
cow
rooster
chicken

note to self: get your camera back out. This post is boring as all get out without pictures of the cutest little thing I ever did see.

Wordless Wednesdays

Splish Splash...

I was focusing in the bath.....

18 months

On Saturday you turned 18 month old. That's a year and a half! My, how time just flies.
Let's see, what have you been up to recently?

Well we have been fighting with impetigo. Just got back from the doctor and found out the first time it never went away and now it is back. Lovely. Another antiobitic and this one should work. You would never know anything was wrong with you though. You run around acting like a nut per usual.

I have no idea why, but you absolutely hate when I change you in the morning. I'm taking flinging your body all around, locking out your joints so I can't bend your arms. It is ridiculous and I can not wait for you to grow out of this phase. Thank God your dada's schedule has him home in the mornings because, well, for some reason you don't give him one bit of problems when he changes you. He? Is God's gift right here on earth in your eyes baby girl! Which I am totally fine with, I find him pretty cool myself.

Eating has become hit or miss with you. Sometimes you eat like you haven't been fed in days, other times you just plain and simple don't want to. I'm fine with this too. I'll never ever ever force you to eat. I also won't ever chase you around bribing you to eat. So sit at the table and eat with me/us or dont' eat...that my little baby girl is a choice you are permitted to make. And you can eat whenever you want!

You talk alot. Daycare commented that you are particularly good at your animal sounds. You are also very good at yelling at Brutus. Saying No No No and Yes. Nodding with both. Your vocabulary is probably somewhere in the 25 to 30 word range and you are starting to put two words together.

Lyla: Bo Bo peaz.
Translation: I would like my binky please.

Communicating makes things a whole lot easier on me and daddy.

Lyla: Gup Gup Dub eeez
Translation: I want to watch Bubble Guppies. (no please on this one)

Translating - a bit difficult, but once we get it we all celebrate.

You? jump. and about kill me from laughter everytime.

You spin in circles and make your self so dizzy you fall over - I find this hysterical too. You sleep through the night 98% of the time. You wake between 5:30 and 6:30 depending what time you go to bed which ranges from 7 p.m. (hate this time) and 9 p.m. (love this time).

We can only bath you once a week because of our endless war with eczema. It seems to be improving a ton! (minus the impetigo)

Favorite Food: Blueberries. When youw atn them you go, find your book with blueberries in it, bring it to me, open to that page and put your mouth to the blueberries. I personally think it would be easier to just say blueberries please (you do know the word) but you insist on doing things Lyla's way...so whatever...that's fine.

Favorite Drink: Milk. You still won't drink juice. It's only milk or water.

Favorite Snack: GOLD FISH. You eat so many you are goign to turn into one.

Tantrums: Terrible. Absolutely Terrible.

Favorite Toy: Car Cars or baby doll with stroller or your magna doodle.

Favorite Word: Mama and Dada

I just can't believe I have a 1.5 year old who does all this cool stuff who is her own little person. it amazes me almost every single day. I hope I never forget your bouncing walk of excitement. You follwoing your dada around just like a little duckling. Your trip to the farm show last weekend and running up and down the rooster aisle yelling and screaming with excitement. The way you look so peaceful, innocent and angelic when you sleep. The way you hug me and kiss me. The way you cuddle. The way you light up when you see me or dada.

I love you Lyla Ann.
